Some people were laying flowers to the Unknown Soldier's grave, others were having their pictures taken by the Eternal Fire and Hero City monuments.
The veterans had some kind of a get-together at Hotel Rossiya - there were hundreds of them there, and as they were walking back to their buses, it was so sad to realize that these were the remnants of a generation - the generation whose lives were ruined by the war, among other things. And that most of them are not gonna be here anymore in five years... But then I saw one woman who proudly carried Stalin's portrait printed in the Pravda newspaper that the veterans had received together with the carnations. That made me sick - and very, very angry. Most other veterans I've seen used their newspapers to wrap their flowers in.
